Who We Are

BEFIR is an independent film production and distribution company based in Kurdistan, Iran — built on social responsibility, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the people we work with. Our mission is to create a healthy, secure environment for independent filmmaking by connecting filmmakers with international partners who can provide funding and expertise.

We help independent filmmakers bring their visions to life and present their work at international festivals and markets to the highest professional standards. We believe every filmmaker deserves the chance to shine, regardless of background or financial means — which is why we give special attention to young, female, and student filmmakers, supporting them through financial challenges as they grow in their craft.

Befir Academy

Through a growing program of workshops and training courses held in Kurdistan and across Iran, the Academy discovers raw talent where the industry rarely looks — and trains independent filmmakers with the skills the craft truly demands.

But our commitment does not end when a course does. Every filmmaker who passes through the Academy enters a lasting relationship with BEFIR: financial support, professional mentorship, and festival distribution — from the classroom to completed films, and from completed films to international screens. In a country where independent filmmaking faces real obstacles, the Academy is both a school and a launchpad.
